About Us

We are a group of passionate contact improvisation practitioners who found themselves on a small tropical island in 2020.

A group of movers chose to stay, cultivating a space where movement research thrives and life itself becomes a dance.

Born from an unexpected pause in time, our island has become a sanctuary for dance and a living laboratory for contact improvisation.

Our Vision

Our focus remains rooted in the physicality of contact improvisation as an evolving art form, inspired by the foundational teachings of Steve Paxton and the first generation of practitioners. We explore the body’s potential through the dynamics of touch, weight, and shared momentum, continually discovering how communication in contact informs both movement and life.

Here, contact improvisation is more than a practice; it is a form of art, an avenue for performance, and a collaborative way of living. We believe in the power of CI not just as a dance technique, but as a mode of existence, where mutual support, trust, and the unknown shape our shared experience. The island invites artists, researchers, and dancers to immerse themselves in this exploration, to push the boundaries of performance, and to redefine what it means to move and live in contact.

Join us as we continue to research, perform, and live through contact improvisation, fostering a community that celebrates collaboration, inquiry, and the art of being in motion.
